driver side foot well - has developed a little puddle after the recent showers -

strangely -
just a small pool under the drivers feet -
and seemingly no where else -
i've tried putting the talcum powder round the windscreen -

and the drivers door -

but no stains of water coming down behind the dash or sides of door -
any pointers on where to look next?

You are looking in the wrong place - look under the dash at the windscreen corners. You will most probably see the drip stains in the dirt and dust.

Torch and being a contortionist will do. But you will be as well to check under the windscreen seal outside to see if you have any metal left under there!
