hi,

i have just fitted a new airfilter to my 2,olitre Aircooled bus after finding that it didnt even have one in there

i now am getting alot more power and the acceleration seems fine, i have been putting all my lack of power troubles down to my carbs but i know think that my carbs are ok,

the trouble is the garage who origionally got my van running advised me that i had a problem with my linkage and the van was unable to achieve full throttle, when i drive it now i can get up to 55mph easy but the van just wont rev any higher and i am sure that i the garage were correct and that i am not achieving full throttle,

does any one know wot i need to look at and adjust/replace? wich parts of the throttle might be stopping me from achieving full throttle?
i feel like i am finally getting somewere
many thanks

Ask somebody to push the throttle pedal down as far as it will go and walk around to the engine bay. There's a link rod that joins both carbs together, try pushing that forward. If you can move it more than a few mm when the pedal is full down, then the push-rod under the pedal might be bent. Or the cable could be stretched and needs adjusting where it connects to the link rod. There should be a 1 to 1.5mm gap between the throttle stop and throttle valve lever at full throttle.

A Haynes manual would make your life a whole lot easier
