Hi all, installed a new heater unit the other day, complete motor, matrix and heater cables. The unit i brought was slightly different to the one i had originally ,as there are 4 levers on the new one. The heater works fine, gives good heat and has a really strong blower but it blows cold through the dashboard vents. Its hot on the windscreen and hot on your feet but the side dash vents are cold, can't understand this, can anybody shed any light on this please.

I think only the later versions chuck warm air out of the side vents. The forth lever is to control heat to the rear of the van on models it was fitted to I think (again)

Check the end panels of your new heater and identify the outlets to which you have connected the hoses for the dash vents. Assuming you still have the old heater unit, check those same outlets and you will find that they are present but blocked off. Your hoses will originally have been connected to other outlets lower down the box - into the 'hot' side.

I know that the later heaters have both outlets with the cold ones blocked. I have considered re-opening them to feed new fresh air outlets in the cab for the summer. I am not sure about the early heaters - did they have 'hot' outlets blocked?

Hi Garyd, the new heater had 2 vents blocked off lower down than the other outlets, so i presumed these were factory sealed and not required. As this unit was second hand i installed it to how it was originally sent to me. So let me see if i got this right, there are 4 outlets 2 blow cold/fresh air and 2 hot air.I can live with this as i have hot air to the screen and feet and cold air to dash vents and through the doors.
