hi, i lowered my T25 van with a lowering kit 60mm which looks great! trouble is the front wheels rub the arches when there is lock on going over bumps, will heavy duty front shocks reduce the travel as the shocks i have at the mo seem a bit spongy but that it was came with the set, i also have standard size wheels on the van.

your shocks sound worn mine is lowered 70 on standard shocks and its fine

they were brand new, i just dont think the shocks compensate for the amoun the van has been lowered, answer to my question would heavy shocks do the job, i have already changed the original shocks that cam with the lowering springs to a set of sports shocks but there is n difference?

i would say gas shocks be best best im not sure about the heavy duty ones

Shocks wont restrict the travel of the suspension, they will/can moderate the rate at which the wheel goes up and down but not overall travel, if your wheel catches the arch then you have to either reduce the diameter of the wheel/tyre combo, or restrict the travell phsicaly ie bump stop,

whats the procedure with the bump stop? and why does this help? how much do you cut off

Hi, I dont know your exact setup but somewhere its wrong,lowering vans is fine but if you go too low for a given wheel and tyre combo and there is nothing to restrict the movement then you will eventually hit something,
If you remove the shocker alltogether the travel will be just the same except it would be undrivable and bounce all over,
Most vehicles have some form of bump stop so that when all the suspension travel is used up the axle/wheel whatever doesnt come to an abrupt metat to metal stop,
post up some pickies and details of what you have

chopping the bumpstop wont do anything for wheel to arch contact, it will prob allow a bit more if anything.

your issue is your wheels and tyres and possibly the spring kit itself.

where was the kit from?

ie a cheapy ebay kit or a pukka h and r or avo eibach etc?

cheap kits often drop more than stated and cause such problems.

also your wheels i take it are not stock?

what is the offset and tyre width?

low offset and wide rubber means arch scrubbage with whatever spring kit you use.

dont fanny about with extra hard shocks, this wont help, sort the root cause and all will be well

Sounds like oversized tyres to me?
I've got an 80mm drop on stock dampers - removed two discs off the bump stop and I've got smaller than normal tyres 215 45 17, with no rubbage.
The ride is a wee bit harsh though
Might try 215 50's next
