Cooling pipe?

Looks like I've <crosses fingers, not fitted yet...> dodged a bit of a bullet on the cooling front. The metal hose which curls round the LH cylinder head is absolutely past-tense, just in a very small section on the lower forward corner.
Anybody know if this sounds like the one described as "
Oil cooler to 'stat housing" on Brickwerks? (It seemed to start around the 'stat, but I don't recall noticing where the oil cooler was hiding, y'see...)

what engine is it?
could be this one i think, its on th left goes from the water pump to the thermostat housing

The pipe you've linked to is common to all late WBX's and has nothing to do with the oil cooler, it connects the water pump with the thermostat housing.

There's one more which is just a short equal hose from the water pump spigot and which never goes and is available everywhere off the roll anyway.

The green area is the bit that's manky. I didn't have the camera with me yesterday when it was up on the ramp, and I can't seem to find the right bit by sticking the camera up under the wheelarch... From below, it's really, really horrible. Definite last legs.
Oil cooler was a red herring - I forgot to take a note of where it was going yesterday, and made an assumption when I was looking at Brickwerks on getting in.

Right, the pipe's here. I've got the coolant. I've got a new 'stat.
So... Do I do it before heading to Derbyshire on Friday?
If I don't - there's the risk of the pipe letting go.
If I do - there's the risk of breaking something and not being able to button it all back together...

Don't drive it if your pipe's iffy.
The favourite thing to 'go' is the bolts that hold said steel pipe to the water pump, be carefull tightening them too cos the pump housings a cross between aluminium and cheese and we don't want to strip it now do we.

Having another good look today, I'm going to put the pipe off until after the weekend. I'm short-term happy with it, but the new pipe is definitely going on sooner rather than later. The pump bolts look OK, but the bolts holding the 'stat lid on are definitely a bit past-tense. The new pipe's in the van, though, along with o-ring & coolant, just in case.

You don't need to mess with the stat housing, just get the tw @t clips off that hold the 2 hoses at the t/stat end.

I'm attempting the same tasks. What should've been a 5 minute job to replace the stat is taking hours. After a good soaking in PlusGas, two bolts came out easily. Then it feels like the threaded insert's spinning on the third and the fourth just wouldn't budge with socket or molegrips and I've just hacksawed the head off in frustration. Stuck now. And the stat to head coolant pipe is held on by two rusty allen bolts - can't see them coming out very easily. Has anyone got any tips please?
