1600 diesel mpg?

hi, just wondering wot sort of mileage others get from there dirty diesels? i run a 82' 1600 non turbo devon pop top. also wot RPM is the engine doin at 40mph in 4th on a 4 speed box? cheers for any input sorry just realised ive put this in wrong subject!

35-40 mpg fully laden over a 1100 mile trip is what I managed. Scottish mountains included.

You need you gear box code then get ratios from here

Running standard wheels and tyres and depending on code somewhere between 2570RPM and 2767RPM
I have just learnt this so someone like Aidan will be able to confirm whether this is 100% or not.

i dont think im getting any where near 35mpg. i put £30 a week in and bout 100 miles on that. any ideas? i dont thrash it (only when goin up steep banks) cant see any fuel leaks and the pump timings bang on.

20 MPG unless the diesel you buy is £2.64 a litre.
