Westfalia Multivan interior.

Hi all,
I was wondering if this arrangement is typical of a westfalia mulivan? Under the kitchen unit is 4 holes in the floor exposing some mouting points, where I guess the rear facing seat bolts into. The interior panels are made from some beige coloured hard board, which is clearly a home made job, due to some holes drilled in the wrong place.
The other pics I've seen of mulivans have moulded interior panels with the table built in and the kitchen behind the passenger seat, with the rear facing seat behind the drivers. Any thoughts or pics please, is it how it was meant to be or has someone put a westy kitchen in a multivan?
Thanks for reading.

your guess seems about right, probably sold the plastic panels to buy the westy kitchen unit - but then the plastic panel's moulded armrests would have prevented the kitchen unit fitting flush against the panel, and the kitchen unit would have prevented the table from being used - when I built my kitchen (cross the van as I have a bulkhead) I had to cut out a big slot in the wooden panel that goes against the plastic one so I could get it flush against it, I didn't want to cut the plastic one

Thanks for the thoughts Aidan, it does seem to be the case.
Whatever the reasons or thoughts behind it, we find the interior layout works very well, there is enough room for the bog to fit between the kitchen and rear seat. Where the fridge normally goes is a cupboard with shelves built in, making loads of room for everything.

We did wonder because it hasn't got the battery and water level guides on the front. Do you reckon the wardrobe is as well, the door opens down over the engine as opposed to where the table is.

Maybe, but.. Westfalia did a "Weekender" model. Basically its a Multivan with a rear wardrobe and the door on it folded down like you say yours does. It could be that you have a genuine Westy and someone has whacked that unit in after, that buddy seat and bed is defornatly a westy part but the mosaic stuff is Westy stuff but came as a flat packed thing that you made yourself I think.
Take some pictures of your pop top bed and how it folds down and I will defiantly be able to tell you. Also the pictures along the trim where the roof is cut out.
Still a good lay out for a van though

One big problem with a recent bed and pop top photo ------ we sold it and put a hightop on it. (I'll put some old pics up over the weekend)
What I can say is the roof is flat at the rear with a board instead of the curved tin tip, the roof cupboard is also flat along the top. There is a flat metal support on the edge of the hole.
There is also a metal westfalia badge on the kick plate to the bed.
I have seen in the past a web page about Mosiac interiors, must find that again.

Its a Westy then with a Mosaic kitchen block. To be fair unless you have put a genuine Westy hightop on the van I wouldnt worry about how genuine it is. Get out and use what works for you and dont think about it, its done now...

Thanks for that info Jed.
I'm not to worried about it all be original, the roof can be put back if needed when one is eventually found. Someone has filled the roof cupboard with 2 huge & 2 small speakers and 2 tweeters, cutting holes into to it to accommodate them, shame really especially as when driving you don't hear them over the diesel engine and when stationary it's too much. And it appears to have an accident repair, so it's not quite perfect in the first place.
It's just that in 5 years of owning her we've not seen another exactly the same. Now we've started doing the body repairs it's got my mind into researching it.
We love the airiness and layout of the interior, it's some of the reasons why we chose it. Also I use it as my daily drive, it's got to be lighter than a full blown westy.
Here's to many more years of camping in her.

If your rear wardrobe hinges from the bottom like mine, then it is a multivan one. This is mine

You could also get this kitchen unit as a multivan add on

Mine also has a genuine poptop

That is the same wardrobe. Ours has a hanging rail and a shelf in it. It's only suitable for hanging very short things, lol.
That kitchen unit is very clever. Is that a fridge or a coolbox? What does it run on?
So the basic history of our camper looks like this- It started life as a multivan, someone in germany put a mosiac kitchen in, those huge speaker mentioned earlier and some non long lasting coloured hard board interier panels. At some point it was involved in an accident on the sliding door side, which only became evident in our 3 year of owning her. The sliding door, arch panel and rear corner was weighed down with filler, no wonder the sliding door card rubbed when opened. We've since put a high top on her, that follows with her quirky theme of changes.
Thanks everyone for helping with my identification. More pics always welcome. It's an excellent club and i'm very pleased I joined.
There are pics on my thread in the technical- body and seals section regarding the body repairs.
