Well, having secured the end panels and kick plate to the bulhead / floor as per instructions, I'm disappointed to say the least!
Firstly when i sit on the front part of the bed when in the bed position, the support bars (pic 1) slide off the kick panel.
Second, the seat back (in the bed position) has a lot of give in the middle (I'm only 11 1/2 stone) and sits 10mm lower than the front part (see pic 2)
Thirdly, there is a 4" height between the engine bay and the bottom of the bed where I intend to build the storage bed suport platform Is this height the norm?
Lastly there is a spring on either hinge which holds a y shaped swivel plate which I assume locates onto a pin in the seat position.
anyway I have broken both of these as they fired off into the upper stratosphere while operating the unit and I restraightened the ends several times. The springs are available through JK,so I will buy some more.
Can anyone confirm that the swivel plate does locate onto the peg on the hinge arm when in the seat position? I've been farting about for 3 hours and got nothing done Grrh. Any comforting advice will be greatly appreciated as at the mo I could happily take a match to the thing in sheer frustration.

Hi,
Without going outside and looking at our bed I think you may have the metal legs the wrong way round.
By this I mean you have the front and the back wrong, if that makes sense. That could be why its sliping in the bed position.

Hi Andy, a valid point but the "how to" instructions supplied by JK are the same as in the wiki link below
so they seem to be in the correct position

Hi Jake,
Just checked our seat and you are correct.
How many times have I put that bed up and down and was sure the legs were the other way round.
Sorry for the duff info.
I have no idea why the bed would slip, I can see from the pics that the back board is supported when down, could that be slightly too high or could it be minor adjustment of the metal legs?

Having mulled it over, I think I'm going to have to beef up the front kick pannel by putting a batton across the full width on the inside. this would stop the flexing. I think being a full width it needs the extra strengthening. Likewise the put a batton under the seat back in the bed position. ah wel,l It'll have to wait for the weekend to get some daylight onto the job. I'll let you know the outcome.
By the way if you have the JK hinges on your bed could you check how the small swivel plate works. I got 2 new replacement springs today and don't want to fit them wrongly. Does the plate lock onto a peg in the upright seat position, in the flat bed position or both?

Mine is not a JK one, it was part of the complete interior that I bought.
It has a wooden frame work which is part of the kick board, a bit hard to explain.
There has, from what I can see, been springs at some stage but they are long gone, the seat still works fine and seems to be ok in the seat position.

I have the same JK rock n roll bed but only 3/4 length, even that flexes slightly when in the bed position. I strengthened the Kick board by fixing a strip of galvanised angle iron on the top edge, so the bed supports sit on that rather on the easily damage MDF panel. When in the bed position the seat base is slightly angled up like yours but not enough to notice when sleeping on it. Also mine came with the rear storage box which goes over the engine hatch(to make a flush bed base)

As I said, I got 2 new hinge springs so if they don't want to cooperate, it's good to know they are not crucial to the operation.

behind the kick plate.
