Cutting out - taking ages to start

Hi all,
My 1.9 watercooled with pierburg 2E keeps cutting out.
It'll run fine for a while, then when it's switched off for a few mins and restarted it'll stall very soon after and not start again for about 10 -15 mins of trying
Any ideas ?
Thanks

what do the basic checks say when it won't restart..
air - check air filter and path are clear
fuel - check delivery to the carb and check the accelerator pump
spark - check for - all four cylinders
Do as the RAC man would do, basics first, then elimination, imho.

Thanks for the replies
Fuel getting there ok, AA man had the pipe off and it was squirtin away. Not long since the air filter was replaced either along with plugs, leads, cap etc
Had it out for a nice long run yesterday with no problems at all.
Maybe be a hard one to find
When it did conk out it was after maybe 30 mile trip and another time after about 2 miles, so engine would be hot.
Thanks !
