T25 1.9 Watercooled 'DG' engine-Con studs/nuts Needed!!

Hi,

Does anyone know where I could buy a set of studs & nuts for the con rods?
I've tried the VW dealers (not since 2008!) and most UK companies, USA, Germany companies - but nothing.
It's for a 1.9 watercooled DG code engine from a 1990 transporter.

I've been informed that beetle/Aircooled might be the same? can they be used?
I've also been told that it is ok to re-use them? with self locking nuts?

I've compared my studs with the two types illustrated in the Haynes, and mine are 22mm long = stretch bolt.
I have thought about re-using them, but have seen what happens if they come apart!! and as it's cost a fortune to get parts so far I don't want to risk it.

Maybe the answer is to get them made?

Any help/advice is most appreciated.

Thanks.

You can't use the stretch ones again, not according to the H.B.O.L.

They can't be re-used!! (Not with out risking destroying the whole engine)

I have tried all the usual outlets + others - they just aren't available.

I've got a number of a company who claim to make rod bolts so will try them.

It's the last part (I hope) I need to put the engine back together.
