Hi all
Anyone have any experience camping in the wilds of the Pyrenees , i.e ,not using official campsites. Sometimes its nicer just to park up on a mountain , have your cocoa ,bed down , and wake up to the wilderness.Thats why i got me a camper in the first place , not to go and be surrounded by other folk ( as sociable as i am ). Any tips or even quiet small basic campsites would be appreciated.
thank you muchas

Yes, there are lots of places to wild camp. You'll love it and have no trouble finding stopovers. Stunning views everywhere!!!

We toured there on motorbike years ago and loved it, would worry about poor Gromit on those hills and hairpins though, they were scary enouh on the bike! My favourite pizza ever was made in a wood fired pizza oven there, which we scoffed with san miguel with views of mountains with sheep - awe the happy memories, it was fabulous.
Have a wonderful time! Tell me if your engine survives and I may talk Matt into a Gromit adventure there

Cheers all for your tips and inspirations , top photos of woods and mountains. My 1600 diesel engine will be encouraged up the mountain with a little goats cheese and mountain honey.
Adios

Are bears extinct down there yet , I believe the last female bear was killed by farmers. Shame , I'd like to see a bear roaming the woods.

I saw a TV programme about a year ago and the bears were still around, I beleive they are a protected species , very reclusive so chances are you won't bump into one unless you are VERY unlucky.
On another TV prog a few years ago a guy in a Westfalia camper which was locked up had his front door ripped off its hinges by a bear who had scented food in the van. Having seen what it did to that door it don't "bear" thinking about what one could do to flesh and bone
