... between a CT engine and a type 1 Bug engine?

I know the following...

CT is full flow and has an oil filter not just a strainer
The heads are different - but don't know what the differences are.
I think the CT has hydraulic lifters, am I right?

What other differences are there, what is interchangable and what isn't..? Can anyone help?

gawww Ian that was harsh

Compression is higher on a CT
Early CT's have 5 fins in the heads (like the beetles) - Later CT's went upto 9 fins on the heads
Early CT's had no oil seal on the front of the crank - later ones had a seal
Timing is 5 ATDC NOT 5 BTDC
They have hydraulic lifters not solids
inlets are twin ports
heads use different (longer) plugs on the later ones
there is some differences in the valves but off the top of my head I'm not too sure what

regardless as too what jobs you get there are a few of them on here (mine being one of them!)

Thank you for that! Didn't know about the timing though, one to remember I think!
