Hi people,

sorry really silly question, i'm stripping down my t25 1.9 peterol. I understand there are two 1.9 variant engines, which is mine? it is a panel van june 1984 water cooled with the water stat in the front left of the engine? what are the differences between the engines?

Thanks for the helpful info on my last post

Luke

hi Luke,

2 ways...you can look on your log book - you are looking for engine code df or dg - they are both 1.9s. DF less HP than DG if I remember correctly. (Differences in head and exhaust outlets I think. But hey, just a girly....think they are both the same colour.... )
or
go to the horses mouth so to speak...

venture forth to the engine bay. Find you black plastic chimney that links the carb to the engine block - the oil breather tube. Underneath this on the engine block you should fine your engine code engraved. If it has had a VW recon it will have a star on the end.

Hope this helps

(oh - and that's only if it is running the stock engines.....if it has had a transplant from sommat else, ignore me!!)

1.9 carburettor + black plastic thermostat housing at the front left = DG

Ah thanks very much it is surprisingly a DF and does have a star and so i suppose has had a vw recon. I'm assuming this could be a bad thing as the cylinders may already have been rebored thereby stopping me from being able to rebore them again if necessary?

thanks
