Top Bunk Mattress?

Me and the Missus are thinking about migrating to the top bunk and leaving 'downstairs' to the dogs..... Anyhow, when I bought the van the top bunk had a horrible old sponge mattress that was falling apart, so I junked it. Now I'm on the lookout for some memory foam or such like. Bearing in mind that there is a 'lip' where the sliding part of the bed overlaps the fixed bit, does anyone have any suggestions about how to make a comfy bed in the 'attic'. The van is a Leisuredrive Hitop conversion with loads of room upstairs.
Happy New Year everyone!!

I would be using a high density foam, cut to the size of the bed.
it's thickness would depend on how it is stored when not in use.
3" would be as low as I would go.

This is a picture of the high top bed and mattresses of the Leisuredrive camper I sold in 2005. As you can see, it comes in two sections; the rear section being
approximately twice the length and the same width of the front section. It is the same size as the high top when the pull out section is pushed back for storage/travelling, the front section then being stowed on top of it.
and the pull out section shown from below (ignore the little heffalump - he was an optional extra)

Thanks Kev, any ideas where it can be had at reasonable cost?
Thanks 1664, it is identical to mine. Did the pull/slide section give any problems when you slept up there? Where can I get a Heffalump?

I see you're in Cumbria.
I found my local foam supplier in yellow pages.
If you call an upholsterer they might tell you.
Or We have a Dunelm mill chain store that sells household, covers, cushions, candles, mats, rugs, glasses and so on

I never had any problems kipping up there but then I'm a short ar$e. The heffalump is 'Junior' from the Jungle Book film
