hi,

i'm about to remove the hightop on my t25 before i make a mess, any advice would be greatly appreciated.
I have some serious rust issues on the roof lip just under the hi-top above the tailgate, the roof has got to come off and would appreciate any advice or anybody/ garages in the midlands who can remove and do the repair, as one garage who would do the work won't take the roof off.
Many thanks
John and donna

take your time!

some roofs come off in minutes , others i have spent hours removing.

various ways , depends on the hardness of the seal.

heatgun can be usefull.

obviously the roof internals need stripping.

one way i have found usually woks is a thick knife , machette type blade poked through the sealer from inside down to the gutter, tapped with a hammer- takes forever but seems to work.
make sure it dosent drift away from the roof and into the fibreglass.
gentle prying once the sealer is split, all being carefull not to split the roof.

We,ve just removed our roof, due to rust at the top of the windscreen. It took two of us about 7 hours to do, imagine the bill for that. (I was also making plenty of tea).

As we've not done one before we experimented with different ideas, the best idea we found was using a steak knife coated in vasaline, cutting from the inside as mentioned by Billy. Our tool kit is very basic.

darkangel1975, I've sent you a PM.
