Hi guys,

I have a 1984 1.9 petrol t25 van. I've just started stripping it down to rebuild it. I didnt drive it much but when I did I had a red flashing warning light on the dash just below the water temperature guage . it came and went and the temperature behaved as you would expect from a healthy engine. Can anyone shed any light on

What this red flashing light represents?
Why it's flashing?
And how to fix it?

Thanks very much, any help is much appreciated.

The red light will flash when you turn on the ignition... it's a self check.
it will flash for a second or two

It also indicates a low coolant level

There isnt a float.

There are two electrodes... and an electronic circuit.
When the water level is OK a small current can flow and keeps the light off.
