Wheel Bearing Grease Cap???

Hello all,

I have a bit of a dilemna, my van appears to be missing a front wheel bearing grease cap/cover.

Now I haven't managed to find what the proper name is for these, and as such I can't find anything at all on the internet for them.

The left one is present, but appears to be impossible to remove and so I cant really get a decent picture to illustrate what I'm after, but if anyone knows what I mean and could point me in the right direction I would be very grateful...3 days to Germany!!!

Cheers

the reason you cant remove the other side is probably because the speedo cable goes through it with the aid of a little clip to hold it in place,
remove the clip and the grease cap will come off as normal, but if you drive it like this your speedo may fail to work properly,

As well as the clip, they can simply be a complete b***** to get off

Sometimes they really need forcing - using a crowbar and rubber mallet if all else fails.

Here's the left hand side...
speedo cap

Anyone know if you can/cannot put a left side one on the right side? I think they're the same size...

I'm guessing you could still order one of these from yore local VW dealer--input your van chassis number into their computer to bring up correct model--then jus spot it on their computer screen--

ETKA only list one no vw part no 251 407 691A . Have you tried any of traders on here or as suggested just use the one with the hole for speedo cable and block the hole up

have you tried your local scrap yard?, it's the one part that neither wears out or goes rusty
take a claw hammer, it will come off easily that way. :D
