I have a `14" T25 syncro. Could someone tell me where the alternator relay lives please - the one that the 'blue wire' connects to - many thanks

Ha ha - now I'm worried - I assumed that the alternator didn't start start charging until the engine was running and that this was controlled by a relay (somewhere). Am I barking (up the wrong tree?)

I think so
it's triggered by the coil
having charging problems?
if it doesn't charge then one or two things might be happening,
firstly make sure all your connections are very clean, now this includes the connector in the alternator to the brush pack, it's a little springy metal tab inside the alternator, that pushes against the brush pack when you fit it.
or it's the brush pack itself , worn out and or failed

blue wire runs direct from the alternator to the batt light on the dash. earth when alt not charging positive when alternator is charging.

The alternator excitation comes from the warning light circuit - if your bulb doesn't light upon switch on the alternator won't start to charge.
