Changing to a Pug motor is not necessary just for the cold weather.
My standard 1,6TD fires up just fine with temps down to -23c.

Any well maintained T3 will cope with the cold.

I would have closed the jumper van's door - it's going stick in there.

Sure i remember using a blow torch in the air intake on a diesel escort van cuz it wouldn't start in the cold

Yeah you get a bad one in any bunch! I had an escort van when i first became self employed, absolutely brilliant to be honest! Had well over 300k when i sold it 4 years ago and the guy still has it now.

Following my good fortune with that i needed something bigger and bought a transit-big mistake!! What a pile of poo that was!! Some people swear by them though. Now i have a merc sprinter and i wish my t25 pulled half as well as it does lol,

On a more "On Topic" note, my 2.0 Aircooled has just been stood for about 5 weeks, and kicked up first time today. Battery was a bit flat but still just enough juice to fire her up!! :ok :ok
