Cheers for the pics - its all starting to make sense...
I guess you have the ends of the hammock resting on the shoulders of the door. When I tried this they didn't seem deep enough coz the end strechers on the hammock are not supporting?
So what happens when you crawl back to the van late at night, really trying not to wake the kids and mistakenly open a cab door!

not done it with her in it yet did it once empty though, the middle leg mostly kept in supported though.
Yes the end stretchers are actually what it is resting on both ends. just make sure the end lugs go down into the stretcher rather than the stretcher going down onto the lugs. that way the weight will keep them in place.

You could in theory add a bolt or something that traps the door lock pin in the down position.

Ive often wondered about tinkering with the door lock mech. Ive never owned a vehicle where the inside door handle both unlocks then opens the door in one smooth action!
This is something that both my kids have sussed whilst I'm driving - beware the pedestrian scoop! Hmm one day I must investigate - 1 more thing on the list....
Huzaah - Off today for a long weekend in a field with a fire!

Holly has had the door opened on her, and fallen out a few more times when the door wasn't shut properly and opened itself - fortunately she's never even woken up. Think it would be waay more of an issue if you positioned the bunk up as high as Bluebird suggest........

....and from what I've seen and the times I've spoken to her, I don't envy the first person to actually do it and wake her up!!!
Bless!
