Hi all
Is it possible to remove the old orignal devon roof carpeting and replace with new without taking the roof and roof canvas completely off?
I imagine trying to get the new insulation and carpet would be a nightmare to get back on in situ
If not is it possible to remove roof, replace carpet and re-fit roof in a day?
cheers
matt

Hi
I bought an old Viking roof replaced the vinyl roof lining & added new insulation. I did this with the roof off before fitting it. I think it would be tricky to say the least trying to do it from inside the van. If you are however relining it with van carpet that would be easier to do. Still not sure how tidy a finish you would get without removing the canvas? Good luck

yeah, think its gonna have to be drill out and roof off!
had a good look trough the forum but couldnt find anything specific.
I saw on other threads that you can stick the silver insulation on and then the carpet stuff onto that - what glue woiuld be need to ensure a 'your never coming off' hold??
cheers

I recently sold a Devon roof to another guy on here (bj.rocke) and helped him take it all off. Must admit, if I'd known how easy it was going to be I'd have kept it for a panel I have, however, having taken off all the interior bits I reckon you could replace all the carpeted bits withoug taking the roof off. There are loads of screws and pop rivets round the inside holding the metal and fiberglass interior mouldings on, and once removed, the recarpeting of these should be a doddle. insulating the panels you remove may be possible but I'd recomend something non-absorbent, escpecially between the cab roof and the bed space floor. I've posted a link to a photobucket folder which has loads of photos of the stripdown which might help but can't post it on here at the min as I'm at work and can't access photobucket but I'll try find it and post it later.
