Hi
I have a set of DRLA 40's that I want to fit on my 2l Aircooled, does anyone know if these manifolds will be suitable to fit under the engine bay cover,

The manifolds that you have shown are incorrect.
You need manifolds for a type 4 engine.
Stateside can sort you out with everything but if you buy them from Dellorto.co.uk, I would recommend the cb performance over the empi ones. They have more meat in the casting for tapping the boss for the brake servo hose.
Contrary to what I have read previously, you don't need mega expensive and rare short manifolds, the standard height fit fine if you cut the central support bar out of your engine lid.
Good luck, if you go through with this, you wont be disappointed.

Cheers gsmoke, is this something you have done as everyone seems to say get the short manifolds. Don't mind cutting engine lid but want to make double sure before I buy em.
Do you have any photos of how they look when fitted.
Thanks

There you go.
My engine and carbs shown here.

The first thing that I would do is buy 'The dellorto Superformance Tech Book.'
Any problems just ask.

my old one had short manifolds and was very very tight, so much so i had to dint the strengthener bar flat on the o/s carb as it was hitting the engine lid!!!
