Help Removing Exhaust Downpipe
Posted: 04 Dec 2010, 21:12
I need to replace the downpipe on my jx engine.
I had a go at this today, over a pit at a mates workplace. The trouble is there is a lot of corrosion and not much left of the nuts and its near impossible to get a grip in them, especial those at the top.
The studs in the turbo dont look too bad, so we are thinking of trying to remove them by locking two nuts together, but were reluctant to try it today for fear of shearing them, I cant leave the van at his worpklace, so any fix would have to be done in a half a day.
Can anyone suggest the best approach for this.
Are special studs needed, brickwerks has these: these for the manifold are they the same as for the turbo?
Also, are the studs left or right hand thread?
Thanks in advance.
