Mines 2500kg Which makes it non exempt from the london emission zone [£200 quid a day!]
As mine is a multivan, so i'm changing the log book from motor caravan to caravelle. OK'd by DVLA, just want a picture of interior to prove it's not a camper.
Is it just 16" syncros that are this weight?
As if mine was a proper camper i wouldn't be able to keep it at home

GVW Gross Vehicle Weight of ALL syncro's is 2500kgs... as far as I am aware...
Whats the weight limit for small motor caravan to be exempt then?
if its registered as a van/commercial it will be liable IIRC... Caravelles should be registered as MPV if less than 9 passenger seats + driver... cant have "caravelle" as a body type description...

has to be under 2500kg. Being 2500kg means you have to pay.
Told DVLA it's a caravelle, they said to put that down, if they query it i'll say MPV, as it's a five/seven seater

I am sure Jake clarified all this a while back after dealings with the LEZ people.

Bstards.......
Means all 2wd are exempt...
As its a TD could always register it as a tractor as they are exempt....

i had a long talk with them, If your putting a later engine in [mtdi i guess] you'll be ok. But a motorhome weighing 2500kg or over will not be exempt.
2WD diesel camper is fine. It's in 2012 the problem starts. Theres a couple links on a GC thread to check your van

I did start thinking, syncro/off road vehicle, but they want pics

Could always fit
a petrol engine...........
MTDi... ?? why what have they said??
If they accept the emissions rating from the "newer" engine, then expect them to want more road tax (probably) I doubt they have thought it through.... smaller lighter more aerodynamic car engine fitted to a large brick shaped heavy 4wd vehicle.. with electronics removed and a mechanical pump fitted... its gonna produce a lot more emissions..
but hey, if they will accept it and you can get it in writting.. go for it

Your camper is not over 2,500kg!
I went through all this when the original released the documentation, i.e. the original Transport Act and associated charging order and the wording stated:
"motor caravans having a maximum mass exceeding 2,500 kilograms"
2,500 plated weight does not exceed 2,500kg. It IS 2,500kg, and is therefore exempt. The wording on their later flowchart is incorrect.

do we need two threads on this?

As said on the other thread, I would be careful changing your multivan away from motorcaravan, you may make it fall into the payable category as it is based on a commercial vehicle.

Then they sould have said gvw of 2501kg to 3500kgs..

as the thread title, it was a query on other peoples weights. Cant understand how LEZ can tell two people two different things? I got told until 2012 i'm ok, after that it's 2500 and over, but a caravelle/mpv/minibus with less than 8 seats is ok. Already sent logbook off to dvla
