Vac cans?

I was going to replace the 009 dizzie today on my CU engined van with a dual vac unit but I've got a problem.

When I suck on the outer connection on the vac can the dizzie internals move around, but nothing happens when I suck on the inner one? There's actually no resistance so I guess the diaphragm is knackered.

I've got another dizzie off a 1985 DF engined van and both sides of the can seem to work on that one. Can I just swap the cans between distributors or is the diaphragm strength or range of movement of the operating arm different?

As long as the outer one works it will be fine, just a little lumpier at idle. Plug the hose for the inner one and set the timing to 7.5 deg BTDC not 5 deg ATDC.

I was hoping to get it working the way it was when it left the factory to see how different from the 009 set-up it is. I'll swap the cans and see what happens.

Not sure , but I think that an 009 is not best suited to a T25 2.0l the advance curve is wrong, one of the real aircold experts will know, there has been a thread on this before. If off another T25 engine or derivative should be better

Hi Mike. My van has been running with a 009 dizzie for the two years I've had it and to be honest it runs perfectly fine but as you say the forum concensus is that the original dual-vac, electronic set-up is better. Even if it turns out the "new" set-up revolutionizes the van's performance I'll still keep the "old" 009 for emergencies.

The technicalities of the previous thread were good , but if your set up works then stick with it
good to have spare that you know works

009 is no good trust me.

fit your dual vac one and blank the retard off and set the timing as described earlier
