Hello. What's this then?

Any ideas? It's a lead just hanging down near the alternator. Has a pin plug on the end.
I only spotted it today after changing the HT leads.

some sort of diagnostics plug i believe.

I think I've seen these in use. Mechanic holds it, looks at the engine and says 'yeah, this engine's knackered mate.'

it just accurately gives the tester the rpm of the fly wheel
