Would it not be better to wire an overide switch so that you can switch over direct to battery when the ignition is off - you get the benefits of normal driving, ignition off radio switches off, switch over with igniton off, radio back on?

With mine when you turn the ignition off and the system turns off, if I press the on button on the radio it comes back on for upto 1 hour (u set the time in a menu) - I presume it feeds via the constant memory live wire?

why not use the ignition feed to switch a relay coil, so it will work when the engine is running. then put a switch accross the relay contacts so you can turn it on with out the ignition being on. No danger of anything happening then!

now theres an option.but if the switch was left in the on position it would counter act the relay(would it ?).i like the idea of a timed switch that gave you an hour or so before it turned itself off.bet theres nothing like that on the bay of fleas ..ill investigate laterz (still dont know if mine has that feature yet dan..as its bloody freezin out there, how is yours wired up then...batt+to the ignition and to a permentant live for the memory?

Yep, permanent live to main battery, batt+ to fusebox terminal thats live with ignition on, its just a basic sony xtreme thingy, but the one in the car also has same feature - infact it was the car one I found out first by accident - turned it on with no ignition key in JVC thingy, so just tried it when I got me van.
