Hi all, having some problems with my heaters. when i have the front ones on, I'm toasty warm but passangers in the back are getting cold air blown at them from the roof vents, i'm probably being a complete fool but can't seem to solve this problem, also the rear under seat heater does not seem to blow much hot air. any advice would be much appreciated.

does any one have a diagram of the heater controls.

As per usual many thanks this is the true font of t25 knowledge

If you have roof vents in the rear compartment you should have a four lever heater control panel. The normal three control - air volume to windscreen; temperature, air volume to footwells. The fourth lever opens and closes the fresh air feed to the rear vents (these are not heated). Depending on the age of the vehicle the knee rail vents in the ends of the dash will be either cold or heated in line with the screen/footwell outlets.

The cold air to the rear vents comes through the structural box rail above the pedals, through the doors and up the 'B' post to the cant rail. Check the condition of the oval seals at the front and back of the doors.

Does the rear heater get hot but not blow or does it blow but not get hot? Does the water valve beside the heater operate fully?

you could take the valve off and make sure it operates properly and when connected the lever moves it throughout its full range
I have a valve here from a sirocco that might do

For the roof vents, put the fan on and try all levers to find out which one opens and closes the air feed to these vents. This time of year I would suggest you will want them 'permanently' closed! If they don't close fully off you may need to adjust the cable clamp on the back of the lever to get the right travel on the flap in the heater box.

The valve for the rear heater should be in the water pipes close to the heater box or it may be part of the box where one of the pipes joins. It may at the back left corner as you look in under the rear seat. Again, make sure it moves full travel. This stops or allows hot water through the heater matrix thereby adjusting the air temperature. You should also have a second fan switch (I think this will be next to the main heater controls on the dash?) Is that giving you three good speeds for the fan?
