I look forward to seeing inside, I reckon its standard 32/7 final drive ratio, with petrol ratios

It's strange to drive as you have to use G to set off.
It also has a temp sender next to the drain plug, not connected to anything now but I believe it had a dash [un]tidy with all manner of gauges in it which were removed before Dave got it.
Judging by the bin full of wiring I removed, and all manner of strange electrical boxes, the switches and the horns I think it may have been used as some form of private ambulance at some point.
Nice van, just a shame about all the bizarre brake stuff that is Oettinger specific.
Mail to Oettinger - "We no longer support this vehicle" that's it!
Mail to brake manufacturer - "We have no archived information"
Mail to classic - "we don't know!"
Hours spent trawling data books to find a front brake disc somewhere near then adapt it to fit.
Still unable to identify rear discs and shoes [yes, it has brake drums inside the brake disc a'la Merc etc]

Cool peice of motoring history.

not very supportive of Oettinger. shame. if you need some help with research dont mind trawling through some brake books.

Rear brakes are, I am told, a combination of B M W front calipers with a different model rear disc (they are drum-in-disc right?)
Ask Transporscher, he told me but I forget the fine detail...the front discs are definitely specials though.

My investigations lead me to believe that the rear brakes disks are Merc, off an early 90's E Class. Got a pair of disks waiting to fit, although Simon did a good job of cleaning up the old ones on a lathe for me. Front Disks I'm going to drop off with the local Merc garage for identification, although in no hurry for new ones.

If anyone has any more info please let me know, would be much appreciated. Thanks Silver Bullet for the lead.

Gear box seems like it has a modified first gear, takes a little practice pulling away, however hits 30mph in first, which comes in handy now and then.

This Syncro has provided us much fun and entertainment this year, it's generating lots of interest among those who recognise what it is.

There are a few different discs of W124 Mercedes E class. The Saloon and Estate are different and the more powerful models have a different rear disc.
