Brake Light Switch

Hi everyone
first time on the forum so go easy on me if the answer to my prob is really obvious!
Brake lights are coming on delayed and after reading other posts here beleive I need a new switch. Had a look under the master cylinder and there are two switches. One nearest the steering wheel has 2pins the other has 3pins.
Does anyone know which one is the brake light switch?
Is the other one a brake failure warning switch?
Anyone recommend an online supplier as I'm miles away from "local" VW dealer
Thanks
Joe

What year is the van?
it's usually the two pin
test it first by connecting the two terminals and see if the lights come on immediately

If it has a brake failure warning light there should be two three switches with three wire going to each switch. Posibly one has been replace with a two pin. Like Kev says bridge the wires to eliminate another fault. Replace them both and don't use pants pattern parts buy them from a VW Dealer.

Thanx for your help guys.
Haven't had time yet to perform test on the 2 pin switch yet, should be able to have a look tomorrow.
Should I test the 3pin switch? If so which wires to join?
Bigherb: Don't think there has been a replaced 2pin for 3pin as when I looked wiring looked kosher with no sign of a spare wire.
Will keep you posted.
Thanx again.

Eventually found time to test the switch and discovered that the 2 pin switch controls the brake lights.
Just wondering if anyone has any info / experience on replacing this with a microswitch working off the brake pedal? There seems to be an array of these switches available, does anyone know what amp rating I should be looking for?
