Air cooled t25 clutch

The wing nut to adjust the peddle play has both wings snapped off. If i cut the cable, will this make it easier to remove the nut? Or can anyone think of a better way to go about this??

Can you get at it with a small grinder? If so, grind the remnants of the side of the nut as far back as you can until you JUST expose the threaded section, if you can do this to two opposite sides the remains of the old nut will just fall off.
