Can I use CNG gas instead of LPG

Hello all, haven't seen any LPG (to fill Westfalia gas tank for fridge and cooking) filling stations since Turkey, but alot of CNG in Iran / Pakistan. The gas tank is now completely empty and was wondering if anyone knew if it is ok to fill up with CNG (compressed natural gas). The guys at the filling station gesture they can put it in if can get a special connector made, but am not sure it would be wise to do so.

CNG needs to be stored in a high pressure tank. There have been cases of LPG tanks filled with CNG blowing up, so I wouldn't recommend it. It has a different calorific value to LPG and is mainly methane based.

Have a read on some of the overland forums for a bit more info

LPG's cheap and readily available so I'd use that.

Thanks for the help. Have just had a call from some people we've met who are already in India who say they have LPG at the fuel stations so hopefully in the next couple of days should be able to get the fridge working (then fill it with some well deserved beers).
