Has anyone used a separate heater in their van?

I would like (but not sure it'll happen), a heater to connect to the leisure battery, preferably with a remote control.

Is there anyone out there know of any that would work with the leisure battery? or am i barking up the wrong tree

Cant afford a proprex one

You cannot run a heater solely off the leisure battery. Propex use a small amount of electricity to ingnite the gas. The gas provides the energy for the heat.

If it's an electric heater you will need hook up.

So is £250 too much for a fitted propex?

That's the general idea because they don't come fitted for £250 it was just the way Kev wrote it that made me think some kind person fit them for cheapmans

find a place where a shoe box would fit
must have access to the outside (floor usually)

materials
copper pipe (10mm ?)
LPG pipe
2 1/2 inch dia. carb bendy pipe
isolator gas tap
compression joints where needed
1.8 wire
mechanical thermostat
ducting as necessary
propex.

method
cut holes in floor for induction pipe and exhaust, pipe exhaust (bendy pipe) as per instruction
fit propex
connect to power supply and thermostat
connect to gas supply from source

use.

Got mine fitted for £120 inc vat as i really don't like messing with LPG - I'd probably blow my van up with my luck!

why not just hook up an inverter to your batter and plug in a standard indoor blower/heater??? surely that would work

A 1 KW heater will pull minimum 75amps from yer battery via inverter, so with a fully charged 85a/h battery you got about 1 hours running before flat
