Fuel tank straps

Oft said on here that you've not arrived until you've sampled the delights of doing the fuel tank straps.

Well Guys I'm just about to lose my virginity and would be grateful for some Fatherly advice from my forum buddies

Box and diff are out ready for a trip to Warrington for some Aidan loving.

Question- Has anyone made up a set of these?

May still go for the BW product as these seem the only source of supply unless anyone knows any different
thanks in advance

Fitted a set of baxters straps last week. good fit perfect replica's of the originals I'd say minus the rust.

Chilla, whilst you've got the tank out, renew all the fuel/breather pipes, check the tank sender unit (it's easier to change when the tank's out), remove the soundproofing and rustproof the bulkhead, check and repaint the steel filler tube whilst it's off and check the diff-lock whilst the 'box is out. Make sure that you align the 'half orange' g/box mountings correctly and don't forget to align the whole drivetrain on re-assembly. Enjoy!!

BTW I've probably forgotten something!

There is an alternative ...dunno if they are better or worse, cheaper or dearer, I do know that they fit perfectly however.

BTW ...I had the lower straps replaced with everything in situ. My garage didn't love me for it, but they didn't complain too much either. The upper ones usually are in pretty good nick anyway and don't necessarily need replacing.

Also, drove around for several weeks with on broken tank strap ...nothing fell out or moved even.

Well, works underway and thanks for every bodies advice.

Ordered the BW straps for convenience and obviously makes sense to do the bulk head, brake pipes and breathers whilst Im there.

Quick question- On the sender side of the tank amongst the wiring loom there is an unconnected wire coloured brown/white. The wire has a rubber cap and is wrapped back into the loom by what looks to be a factory tie.

Anyone shed any light on its destination?

Many thanks

My straps are the MRB ones that both SyncroWekstat and Kaefer & co sell.
Mine are usually on the shelf ready for next day delivery.

If we run out of things, we try to knock them off the shop to stop us selling stuff we don't actually have.
I think michael said the last set went out today, and theres a few more things we need from the same supplier so we will be ordering Tuesday and hoping for 1 week turn around (clearance of IBAN then packing, picking and shipping from Germany)
As soo as we have more they will be straight back on the shop.
