Yes landy pump. I'm copying what nick's done with his doka. It is very smooth and revs so quickly. I was really surprised how quick it reved with just a tiny touch of the pedal. Just got to strip all the unwanted stuff of the motor now and throw it in.
Mv wont be missed as it'll be doing a splended job of keeping the workshop door open. Lol

I might open the only branch of MVs R US

BTW did you know there were originally more MV syncros than DJ ones in the world, Yanks must have had something like 1/6- 1/5 of syncros built I reckon

SA only had DJ's or a very few 2.5's at the end.

Wacha mate,
Glad it all started off on the right foot. That pump was a bit on the expensive side then. Hee Hee Hee !
Have you decided what turbo your going to go with yet?
A new set of glow plugs will be a good idea while you can still get to them with one hand.
I think the glow plugs form a hot spot which helps on clean running from cold.
May not be an issue with the 1z injectors, but if you go up a size i think you will need good ones.
I will measure the clearance between the LDA and the engine lid(the deck is still in situe below the load deck on the doka's) on mine to see if it will go
without any agg (unless anyone knows).
I will be playing with a VNT off of a AFN, will let you know how it goes.
Dont forget that gauge
all the best

Hi mate,
When you started it,
were you directly on the original bolt holes of both bracket and pump?

yes pretty much nick, i elongated the holes equally both sides and marked the center point and set to there.

What I was thinking is that if the original VE boss is left on,
then you can time the pump using the LR type pin.
Would mean the new fab of the toothed outer though.
Ever had anything like it made?
I suppose i could part off the LR toothed section and graft it in.

if you use the woodruff key with the tdi pully it lines up with the timing pin boss on the pump anyway. i haven`t completely removed the boss so i can still fit the timing pin in place. which unless i miss understood is what you told me to do.

I heard tell of a mod for a TDi where you use an AAZ pump, take the back off it and replace it with a back end off a transhite and you get the correct fuelling and 500 more revs.

Can any one confirm this?

i`ve heard loads, so much that i ended up going around in circles. talked to loads of people some of them highly regarded and still found no definitive answer. there`s masses of info on the diesel and tdi forums. the proof of the pudding is almost always in the eating.

Turned down the LDA for the weekend in the white stuff.
That turbo isn't giving enough boost to kill the smoke
and cool the EGT's after upping the fuel.
Still havn't got around to making the mount so I can fit the VNT.
I was getting 850-900 degrees C, under prolonged heavey throttle.
From searching, have found two sites saying 700C is as high as you want to be
for safety (hope I havn't giggered it).
Still sounding sweeet though.
