Breather Filter - any good?

Morning!

Mt T25 (1.9 DG) needs a new breather hose (breather housing to the carb). I've checked old posts about breather hoses. These are pretty expensive - £58 on Just Kampers!!

VW Heritage sell breather filters as an alternative - are these any good???

My camper has low compression in one cylinder so does send some fumes down the hose - so would a filter be no good - and do you need to block the hole to the carb where the hose would go??? I'm planning to remove and clean out the breather housing because it pushes oil out of the top....

any advice much appreciated!!!

Brickwerks sell a silicone version of that pipe for under £30. VW used to charge over £30 for it when they had them.

Alternately I bought the DF engine pipe version which is just the same but less bendy and only cost £11.52+VAT from VW commercial Part number 025-129-493B

Find your nearest vw dealer

While you are there change the seal on the breather tower as it will be hardened and useless

Brilliant! Thanks Cruz!
I'll see if I can order the DF pipe and a new breather tower seal from VW....

For cleaning out the breather tower, I was planning to remove the 4 nuts from the base, then clean out the inside of the tower (Is there a mesh inside?) with petrol then reassemble. Some oil gets pushed out of the top, I could seal this with silicone sealant... Sound OK?

Cheers!

There was no mesh inside mine just an angled flap which I assumed is supposed to catch the oil vapour then allow it to drip back down into the engine

Collected my breather hose & breather seal today - VW Van centre near me (near J26 M62) is a real find, unlike other VW places they actually ordered T25 parts for me!!

Going to take a day off work, sort out the breather & clean the engine bay as its coated in thick old oil & dirt....see it I can locate a minor oil leak...

Thanks for the assistance!!!!
