Hey Peeps.

Am now making the final prepps for my first attemt at spraying the van. With window removal is there a way of salvaging the seal/rubbers so they can be used again, or do I have to hack them apart to remove windows?

Due to my van being a twin slider i have sliding windows both sides, and the rear is not heated!

You shouldn't need to hack the rubbers about at all, if they are in a very good condition then clean them thoroughly and put them back in, be aware that they do get brittle and can leak. Why not do the job really properly and get new rubbers? (I know it costs, I've just bought a load)

hi a little trick if you don`t want to take the windows out , push electrical wire under the rubber to create a gap between the rubber and the body mask up then spray

this time last week would have been an option but due to the purchase of a new engine going to have to assess my funds on completion of the spray job.

I know i have one seal to replace already, just seeing if there was a tip for not having to replace them!

At least replace the windscreen seal, if that starts to go brittle you'll get leaky syndrome, water sitting in the rim and the dreaded rust starting.

the best thing to do is leave the van in the sun all day (ha ha!!!) this makes the rubber more plyable then go inside the van and lift inner rubber lip towards center of glass then gentlly tuck the rubber lip behind the metal screen flange it's awkward to get started but once you get going it gets easyer as your removing tension from the rubber.now get someone outside to catch the glass and keep going till youve pushed the lip under the flange round both sides and the top edge then the window will just lift out the more of the lip you push under the less likly you are to brake the glass dont mask windows up in van paint will only flake of around rubber after time

i'm gonna attempt this loverly job soon.. is it easier to get out, than back in?

Top tip from someone else, sorry don't remember who, when you start lifting the rubber lip up to remove the window don't use a screwdriver to lift and jamb, use a couple of halves of a wooden peg.

I used a windscreen fitter to refit them all cost £80 no leaks after either.

once the beading is out the glass is very easy to remove
