2.1 DJ Engine Problem

T25 Westy just passed MOT :D

Bit of a prob though. Engine runs sweet all day long but when the mrs uses it for dropping off and picking up (it's the daily driver) after the third drop off it won't restart. In variably it's local and when i get there there's a big smell of petrol and I retire hurt. Go back a few hours later start first time.

Any pointers welcome before I let my man loose at £50 per hour (ouch!) :run

Some one may have seen this before.

Help would be Tidy

I had a similar problem with mine and was told it was the heat building up in the engine compartment that evaporated the petrol before it got into the carburetter. Have had previous experiences with engines failing as in this instance and have rectified it by fitting an insulating block between manifold and carb flange made out of asbestos or similar. Hope this is of some help.

Sounds to me like a leaky injector is flooding the engine, or your temp 2 sensor is duff.

coolant temp sensor, making engine over fuel and flood. about £8 new. I would start there. :ok

yes, 'temp 2' sender, not the guage sender.
ive just swapped mine and i *think* i am in better shape for it. though my sender is 'synchro specific' according to the brickwerks shop, but it also appears on my dh engine. it was threaded, where the DJ one is not.

My 2.1 DJ did this. Changing the Temp2 Sensor on the thermo housing was the solution.

OK sender was changed unfortunately no better. We sorn'd over winter and after a oil and filter change early summer it ran ok for about 500 miles

Bggr me if it's now after a 5min run it wouldn't restart. Left it 24 hours (no joy) and another 24 hours, still nothing.

The mrs hoping to camping in it next tuesday any thoughts anyone????
