Dai came over to play today

we started on the next bit of donation from the pickup
it was the first time with a plasma cutter and no instructions but Dai figured out a working setting and off we went
access pretty good for most of it
and we found autodimming mask on lowest setting worked well to protect eyes in high contrast areas and face protection useful though beards got scorched
almost there........it was trickier than expected
there wasn't need for the fire extinguisher I'd brought along, not much waxoil left in the cavities after all these years, a few small flash fires, mostly the seam sealant flashes off a bit nasty
finishing the cuts through above the rear jacking point was tough, there's a few panels hidden in there
but eventually
to get this
coming to a van parked in a field near you next year

You really wanted him to set fire to his beard didnt you? I would have put a shot of paraffin in his coffee for some encouragement if I were you

Actually Paul prefers a 9 inch Grinder for both Panel removal & Shaving,
He uses petroleum accellerants primarily for cooking, entertainment & bathing -

unfortunately for kooldubs I have another sika with a big hole in the rear cab panel looking for a donor itself and the bottom of nearside b pillar
MattFlint wants the rear valence, SimonTMT whats worth salvaging of the load bed
the diesel fuel tank will come complete with most of the panel with the filler neck and the through panel etc.. if anyone is after a diesel pickup tank
the panel behind the offside wheel arch is good, the otherside is dented but salvageable and the air vent panel isn't too bad
the front panels are pretty good, though I may be needing the bit below the windscreen for Edna, and I'll be keeping the windscreen as spare as I haven't got one
doors available, nearside locker door too but it's not totally straight or rust free
the shell is going down to a floorplan/chassis members only state so plenty of metal to recover, some of which will I'm sure be useful for welding bits on other vans
