Seatbelt bolt

Hello,
not sure if this should be in the mechanical or bodywork section really. My passenger seatbelt gave up the ghost and is totally stuck so I need to replace it. I was trying to undo the bolt on the floor next to the seat where anchor is, but it turned a couple of times, and now it totally stuck solid.
I'd appreciate anyone's advice in how to get this undone. Many thanks in advance
Ewen

you mean the bolt that goes through the floor into the wheel well?
grind the nut off underneath
or use a hex socket and a big breaker bar.
won't matter if it shears
I can send you a new nut and bolt in the post (FOC)

Hello Kev,
thanks a lot for this. I will look out my bigger bar extension - I was hoping that might work (There's some scaffolding up the road too )
I'll see what I've got, but I'll PM you if I need the nut - thanks a lot for that!

Thanks a lot! Very generous! Hopefully I can return the favour soon. PM sent.
I'm afraid I don't know the spec of the nut and bolt - I will check tomorrow if I manage to get it off.... I know it's a 17mm head....

Ah that may be a legal requirement I don't know
unf is a fine thread innit?
would a metric replacement bolt be OK?
what size would it have to be?

Hi Kev,
The equivalent I believe is M11 x 1.25 which will apparently work
7/16" = 11.1mm
20 threads/inch = 1.27mm/thread
This is the standard seatbelt bolt and I think I have one anyway which will fit. My van's got a square welded nut under the wheel arch - it's still fine and in tact after I stud-extracted the old bolt which I presume was loctited. I reckon just a new bolt will do the trick.
Thanks a lot for all the help and offers of shiny new nuts!

Thanks a lot for your generosity - I really appreciate it. The bolt is seriously loctited, so if I can't get it out with heat and swearing, and I have to grind off the square nut then I'll be in touch!
