18mm is very heavy
In most converters, their units use a solid wood carcass and 6mm panelling

hmm would have to weigh it but thinking of half the crap people carry anyway lol maybe just use 18mm for upright sections and 6mm for pannel like you say i'll see what works at least it wouldn't peal or look rubbish and would last for years

Being a perfectionist would mean not showing the edges of plywood!

Good quality 16mm Baltic Birch Multiplex ply looks really good when finished correctly (epoxy resin and polyurethane) as it has no voids.
It's still pretty heavy though.
For a nicer look (imho) go for a lighter (cheaper ply) at 10 - 12 mm and edge band it with rebated Ash or Birch.

I'm currently using 12mm and 15mm light weight ply (with a birch finish, printed vinyl not veneer) from a place in Kidderminster. It costs about £60 per sheet and is very easy to work with.
I've lost the guy Andy's contact details but there is a Motor-home sales place on the same site -
this is their details
