Engine Missfiring

Hi

I was driving along today when all of all of a sudden the engine started to missfire, it sounds like it is running on 2 or 3 cylinders only, its a 2.0l Aircooled, i replaced all the plugs, leads, dizzy cap and airfilter when i serviced her a 1000 miles ago, the plugs are a bit sooty where the twin solex are running a bit rich, but i cannot seam to find the fault, filled up at the petrol station this afternoon and she seemed to run ok for about 1 mile, then went back to running very poorly, it gets worse the longer you drive her, could it be the dizzy itself or the coil playing up, it gets to the point where it seems to have no power.

Any advise very welcome, this is all i need before xmas.

Ian

Blocked fuel filter or strainer in the carb?

ok before it was serviced?
Got the old stuff as get you home spares?

whack the old on and see if it still occurrs.....as has been said muchly, new does not necessarily mean better!

Check cap and rotor arrm. Any signs of arcing? Slight crack that opens up when warm?

Rotor arm mounted properly?

Just some ideas to add to the fuel suggestion above.

Thanks for the rely's

Had a look at the fuel filter and it looked sick!!, £1.75 later and a new filter, she runs nice and smooth again, never thought to look at the fuel filter as the bus had had a new fuel tank fitted by the previous owner about 3 years ago, i would not of expected to find so much rubbish in the filter.

Thanks for the pointer BOXY
