16" Truck mirror fixings?

I've been meaning to put these on for a while, even though they look far too shiney to fit to my old nail of a syncro.
Question is, has anyone gone for countersunk rivets at the top hinge instead of c/s pk screws? I thought they might be a tad more secure in these light-fingered days I'd like to use stainless steel ones (I have "lazy tongs" to pull them up good and tight first time) so if anyone knows what the correct size is before I go and blag 6 plus a few spares from our fixings supplier

I bought the ones that are fitted to the Westy new from VW some years ago so value them as they are in good nick. I riveted them on at the top because they cant be unscrewed by a multi purpose screw driver with the top 8 security driver bits stuck in the handle

Post a pic when done. I used C/Sunk self tappers on the top and security Torx on the bottom. Not happy though and could do with more security

you could remove the door card and put a nylock nut on the thread that is coming through the factory thread in the bottom of the door. to prevent them going walk about in the dead of night,

neil

I was going to nylock the bottom mounts anyway. It was the top door frame mounting that I wanted to get secure.
Good reminder though

Searched all over, looks like you can't typically get c/sunk pop rivets in stainless bigger than 4.8mm shank.
Ideally I'd like 7/32" (5.55mm) so the head would nicely fill the c/s in the mirror bracket, judging by the difference between 5mm (could usefully be larger) and 6mm (just too big) c/s cap crews.
Search continues...
