Another problem, but hey that is all the fun of owning a T25!! Anyway when I bought the van a few months ago there was a cable at the rear of the engine bay which was not connected. I recently found out it is the cold start cable, so had a go today at routing & connecting it, as I have been suffering from a lot of white smoke on startup now it is getting colder. Moved the cold start lever to the left (towards gearbox) as it was facing down, and on startup - guess what - no white smoke I have managed to find the hole on the cold start lever to attach the cable, but there is just no room to connect it, short of disconnecting the injector pipes, bus bar for the glows etc. Is there an easy way and also could anyone please send me a pic of how it should look once connected? Also is it ok for now to drive with the cold start engaged (if you get my drift) & will it use any more fuel or do any damage to the engine? Thanks.

It should go through that hole in the clevis pin that you can see in the second pic. and just use solderless nipples each side. I think there should be a bolt in the clevis pin that clamps the wire - you need a long clever screwdriver/spanner to re-insert it. Hopefully someone can give an idea as to the size that is needed.
Not the most accessible of parts! The glow plug down there is easier than that.

Thanks, will probably have to remove a few bits to get to it Had a look tonight and there is indeed a small bolt for securing the cable. Does anyone know if it is ok to leave the cold start lever permanently engaged, and will it use any more fuel?

All it does is alter the injection timing a little at low revs. it doesn't use extra fuel like a petrol engine does (which enriches the mixture when applied). Removing parts doesn't help much to get at it - need to borrow a 4yr old who can reach in there!

Nope , all the 4yr olds are busy in the fields maybe a 3 might suffice
