1.6 diesel oil leak

Got a leak on the engine, heres a pic

looks like it coming from the bottom pulley, or something above that behind the belt cover.
Going to have a proper look tomorrow. Top half of engine is leak free. Previous owner just had cambelt changed, could he have left something loose? Strangely oil level not going down. Only seems to leak when engine running. Got splatters of oil up tailgate and on dads car that was following me
Any info, usual suspects, would be handy [ even how to take the plastic cover off! ]
Many thanks, Lloyd

I would think cam cover gasket, (pulley end over bearing) and reading that work been done up top would guarantee it,

I used to have a leak like that. I initially thought it was the cam cover gasket, or possibly camshaft oil seal, but it turned out to be the plug in the end of the cylinder head oilway leaking. It's behind the plate behind the camshaft pulley. Check out the cam cover first though.

It's the (probably rusty) steel cover right on top of the engine with six? or eight? nuts holding it down and one rubber tube coming out of it. Underneath there's a cork gasket and two bits of rubbery stuff which go over the cam bearings. Get a new gasket kit before you even try to lift the cover. When you put the new gasket on, you'll need to seal between the various components with a smidge of silicone. Best of luck, it's a crappy arrangement.

A leak on the cam cover should show up without taking it off though ...just check thoroughly around the edges. If necessary clean it up a bit and check again after a drive

Cheers, will check tomorrow and report back. Breaking the van in coupla weeks, so don't really want to spend much money. Saying that, will be selling the engine on so probably best to fix

as said, ascertyain where its from and if the gasket/cover then as your selling it etc Id leave well alone, if its someone on here just tell them its leaking from a.b.or c end of problem and even easier to fix when its out
