Hi folks following on from my last problem has anybody got any pics/diagrams of the parts that make up the airbox assembly on a 1.7 diesel preferably the bits that are the air intake side and not the box itself, are they meant to be connected to a snorkel that goes up to the side vent, as you can gather from this all i seem to have is an airbox with filter connected to the engine and just a hole on the other side which could explain why i thought the exhaust was blowing due to the air intake noise if something has fell off. Thanks Steve W ...................

Here's a pic of what came off my 1.6D. The crappy vertical tube which went up the side duct had collapsed so you can see I replaced it with a bit of 90mm builders PVC pipe ducting, squashed and bent with a hot air gun. It must not touch the sides or it will drum on the bodywork. It's most imortant to make the whole thing air and noise tight, as you have just found! The thing at the top end of the pipe is an air scoop which faces rearwards, and collects air from the high pressure zone right at the back behind the grille. Take the grille off and you might just find yours is still there!

I took mine of my 1.6td as the hose was disintergrating, can't it sounds any different or has any less power. Still in the shed ,you can always pop round for a look Steve . I really should put it back on one of these days

Seeing as mine is an ac converted to the superior fuel  I dont think I can get it up there as I dont have the plaggy vent covers,
Im not fussed but wonder if it makes any difference noise wise on a n/a?
