hey all,

been super bus with work over the last few months but I think I ma finally have time to paint my replacement pop top before it gets too cold!

If I use Rustoleum do i need to prime the roof first? WOuld I be better off using specific fibre glass paint?

Thanks,

Sam

Don,t know if this was the right thing to do but I sanded mine and gave it a coat of Masons Coach Enamel. That was two years ago and still shiny and no pealing.

If I were spraying the pop top I would use a plastic primer.
As paint is paint it's what you paint on that matters.

Doesn't the paint your wagon thread tell you what to do redarding rustoleum?

Should be able to go straight onto the old paint once you have keyed and panel wiped it. Should only need to use a plastic primer if you sand through to the fibre glass.

Rustoleum say it will go on glass fibre no prob. Remember, its a primer, undercoat and topcoat in one go.

Thanks all for the advice!

I thought Rustoleum would bo ok straight on but always good to check with those that have painted roofs themselves.

2 and 3/4 years later and the van is nearly how i want it !

2 and 3/4 years is quick as far as I'm concerned! Good pace!
