temp guage failure

its packed up :roll: my question is how can i work out if its a simple as changing the switches in the thermostat housing. do i just unplug them or do i earth them? if you know what i mean.ta

There's a bit of info here which'll tell you if it's possibly the module marked 43 - it explains how to check the electrics are ok - then you can go on to test the stuff in the engine bay....

What engine is it?

Mine (1.9DG) failed and changing the sensor didn't work, it turned out there was corrosion on the sensor plug and I had to cut the old one off and connect a new one on.

iirc you are on late water set up, so joining the two connections of the plug together will move the gauge if its not the sender or the wiring.
AIdan knows the value for testing the sender, i cant remember....too much stuff to remember , an that aint one of them!!! lol!!!

its normally the plug or wiring corroded......

ok done the relay thing and the guage works :D also grounded the wiring to the switch and the guage is working. new do dah needed then :ok
