Not being quite as tall as Peter Crouch (bet he's glad he doesn't still play for a certain team at the moment), the step up to the van can sometimes feel like climbing Kili.

Obviously there are FAR cheaper options, but I've always thought these were kinda cool and wondered if anyone has fitted something similar and what they were like?

Getting a good fixing might be a prob as its recessed (floorpan) where you'd be mounting it. I think you'd need to weld in a couple of pieces of flat steel (angle iron ideally) to bridge the gap between sill and next structural member, then bolt to that. Thats how I'd do it anyway.

Good find though. Great solution. My ageing mother has same problem getting in and out and even I'm feeling it now.

or lower your van

Tried the portable step idea but then you have to find somewhere to store it... - and lowering the van means more on tyres each time and having to slam the anchors on for tiny speeed bumps or ruts.

vw fitted a folding step as an option .
came out when sliding door opened, went in when door closed.

quite rare tho , but a few about.

Think I've got something similar in my shed that came off my Bay, and it'd be far cheaper than that!

we use a heineken crate.
the beer comes in handy as well.

Folds flat. Easy to store
