A Pierburg squared, equated and squared yet again ...

... aka the 'dreaded Pierburg 2e2' ?
Hi Guys (and please forgive the alias) but my Work Toy REALLY does bend (but not quite in the middle)! The Wife has often passed comment .... Hmmm!
I am the VERY proud owner (obviously... aren't We ALL?) of a 1990, 1.9 Petrol Automatic, Autohomes Komet T25 that has, at times, broken my Will To Live and has also given swmbo the psychological advantage in the Thomas Cook Catalogue range of Superior Holidays. (In Her DREAMS!!!!!!)
Please forgive this little bleat - but, having been plagued for over a year with misfire/stall/backfire/loss of power problems (that were subsequently traced back to a water problem in the petrol tank that was, shall we say, 'gorgonzola-ish?) I had assumed the smugness of a T25 owner sans problemo! (Is that English, Spanish. French or VW?)
So I took swmbo up the Lakes, in the pouring rain, last weekend, just to prove to myself that the water/petrol mix was now at a premium.
Quelle Problemo? Zilch! Purred like a cat all weekend (and the van ran as sweet as a nut as well!) We even tried waterskiing! There is a straight stretch of road down the side of Coniston ... and I attached the rope to the tow bar and swmbo got into her leathers (DON'T!!!! ) and it was was going great ... Window down, Wig blowing around, Her on the Water Skis .... Trouble is - You have to do a sharp left at the end of the road and ... well ... Her Triple Salko plus Double Pike With Yowl into the brambles was given a resounding SEVEN!!!!!! by the crowd on the balcony of the local Hostelry!
Never did quite work that one out - but she refused to cook Dinner that! night and made me go and get some chips for my tea?
No pleasing some people is there!!?
Where Was I? Oh Yea .... hmmm .... the Divorce Court a week a Tuesday ... ermmm .....
Oh I remember!
T25's and Pierburg Carbs! Arrrrgh!!!
Is there a Pierburg Doctor in the House?
OK. Divorce aside.
I got into my cold van on Monday morning, pressed the accelerator pedal down to 'arm' the autochoke, turned the ignition key on after the light had gone out and she fired (as per usual) on the second or third turn. Purrrrrrfect. I let her idle fast for a couple of minutes to warm up and then 'blipped' the throttle to (semi?) cancel the choke. I drove a mile up the road to my local petrol station, (without a problem), turned her off, filled up, turned her back on and, as I pulled away from the garage pumps, she stalled. She started again immediately but I knew that she was 'hesitating' on acceleration as I rejoined the main road.
For the next 35 miles (on a variety of flat and hilly roads - think Lake District) she couldn't make her her mind up whether or not to accelerate or just 'hunt'. By 'hunting' I mean that, on a straight, flat road with my foot steadily on mid-accelerator, she would alternately 'pick up' and then 'back off', 'pick up and then 'back off', repetetively. If I put my foot down (past midway) she would take off as per usual but, the second that I eased off into a cruise she would go back to 'hunting mode'.
We got to work (and I am away all week) but I cannot help but wondering if I have been infected with the dreaded Pierburg Autochoke Problem?
Any and ALL comments would be appreciated Guys!!
